Author Notes: Marcy Pavord is an experience endurance rider, endurance horse breeder and trainer, as well as being an equestrian journalist contributing regularly to Horse and Hound, Horse and Rider and other magazines. She is a member of the FEI panel of international candidate judges for Endurance Riding, represents the sport on the BHS Training and Education Committee and served for five years on the BHS Endurance Riding Group Committee, before standing down to concentrate on training. She is the author of several equestrian books. With her most successful horse to date, Rani Tarina, she was selected for the British Novice team in 1992, long listed for the European Championship team in 1993 and won the Arab Horse Society Endurance trophy in 1993. She competes regularly in national competition with her two young horses both of which are home-bred.
