Author Notes: Peter Rossdale is an internationally known veterinarian and an authority on bloodstock horses. He has been in Veterinary practice for forty years and s a Fellow of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and holds a Diploma in Equine Stud Medicine and a PhD. He is also an honorary Fellow of the Australia College of Veterinary Scientists. In 1996 Peter received an OBE for services to equine veterinary science. He edits Equine Veterinary Journal, is the author of many papers in peer reviewed journals and has written a number of books including You're Horse, Inside the Horse, and Horsebreeding and has co-authored The Practice of Equine Stud Medicine, and The Horse's Health from A to Z. Melanie Bailey is a freelance equine lecture, specializing in equine reproduction and equine behaviour. She is involved with thoroughbred bloodstock and has been for the majority of her career. She is the author of Equine Stud Management, and has contributed to other publications as well as writing for specialist magazines.
