Author Notes: Lesley Skipper spent her early childhood in North Yorkshire obsessed with horses but then lost touch with the horse world until adulthood. Marriage into a horsey family rekindled her early enthusiasm and the subsequent ownership of Arabians led to an intensive study of the breed. She writes about equestrian matters and currently edits and produces the quarterly magazine of the Northern Grou of the Arab Horse Society.
